The Haverfordwest County Academy played Home games against Port Talbot Academy in three age groups on Sunday 11th October.

Haverfordwest County Academy U16s took on their Port Talbot counterparts at Bridge Meadow and will feel they should have gained more from the game. Although the Bluebirds played well through midfield, they were left lacking in the final third, Morgan Thomas coming closest when his fierce shot rattled the crossbar. So both sides went in with clean sheets at Half Time. The second half saw Port Talbot grow into the game and they gained a foothold, taking the lead with a shot from 8 yards out. To their credit, the Bluebirds dug in and Alaric Jones produced a quality placed finish from the edge of the box to level matters. Then came a crazy final few minutes, first Port Talbot thought they had won it as they scored on 80 mins, only for the Bluebirds to race to the other end where Morgan Thomas smashed in his shot to make it 2-2. Then, with the Bluebirds thinking they had rescued the game, a Port Talbot striker was allowed to turn inside the box and lashed an effort into the bottom corner 3 mins into injury time. A cruel end for the young Bluebirds but one that will no doubt make them stronger as a result.

The Under 12's recorded their first win of the season with a good performance which resulted in the scoring of many goals from the chances created. Looking more adjusted to the 9 v 9 game than last season, Haverfordwest can go forward with confidence to the Torfaen game and continue with a style of play that resulted in eight different players getting on the score sheet. Not the goalkeepers 😊, however, both Rhys Mansell and Ferdy Stephenson Shield also played well.
Goal Scorers for Haverfordwest County were: Teejay Gardner (3), Will Malone, Archie Smith, Joe Evans, Jack Jones, Kurt Sarrionandia, Joel Mills and Iwan Howells.
