HCAFC in partnership with Vi-Ability are running Walking Football sessions for men and women over the age of 50 at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium every Tuesday afternoon from 1:30-3pm. Sessions will be run by Wales Women's Goalkeeper and international coach Jo Price and volunteers.
Football boots are preferred as well as shin pads but trainers will be acceptable also.
This new aspect of the sport provides people with an opportunity to play football for longer and to prevent them from hanging their boots up before they need to. Games are played at a slower pace to reduce the threat of pain, discomfort and injury yet still enjoy playing the sport at a walking pace. Sessions will include shooting practice, passing drills and games both internally against each other as well as matches against the likes of Swansea City, Cardiff City, Merthyr and Solva walking football teams.
There are many benefits to be had from playing walking football, both physically and mentally. Such benefits include:
Lowering your blood pressure, Keeping socially active, Weight management, Meeting new friends, Staying mentally alert, Learning new skills or just revisiting those skills you thought you had forgotten.
Come and join in the fun at Haverfordwest County AFC where we welcome everyone over the age of 50 to come and try walking football.
